Aragon Ballroom (Chicago, Illinois)

USA / Illinois / Lincolnwood / Chicago, Illinois / West Lawrence Avenue, 1106
theatre, concert hall, dance hall, music venue

Nicked-named the Aragon Brawlroom, for in the past, the wide open floor let moshing and crowd surfing get out of control, to the point where fights did break out. Liability issues and a change in pop-culture musical tastes have toned down the moshing, with security more apt to end things before they start. The venue itself is not a bad place to see a concert though, and the former dance hall interior is proof that buildings like this should be cherished, as today's buildings aren't built like they used to be. When not hosting concerts of all types, you can find neighborhood and ethnic cultural events putting the open floor to good use.
