Rogers Park (Chicago, Illinois)

USA / Illinois / Evanston / Chicago, Illinois
 community, neighbourhood

Rogers Park is the northernmost of Chicago community areas in the far North Side of Chicago, Illinois, and is also the name of the Chicago neighborhood that constitutes most of the community area. It is bounded by the city of Evanston along Juneway Terrace and Howard Street to the north, Ridge Boulevard to the west, Devon Avenue and the Edgewater neighborhood to the south, and Lake Michigan to the east. The neighborhood just to the west, West Ridge, was part of Rogers Park until the 1890's. Some Chicagoans use the phrase "East Rogers Park" to refer to any area east of Ridge, but usually East Rogers Park refers only to the portion of Rogers Park east of Clark Street.

Comments

  • Said to be the most culturally diverse neighborhood in the United States, Rogers Park has just about everyone and everything.
  • Rogers Park has one of the worst aldermen in the city. The blog "Broken Heart" tells how much Joe Moore has his head up his ass!!
  • i grew up on touhy ave. it was great. then, we had hippies. i remember once, the national guard marching down our street when dr. martin luther king got shot, killed. nothing happened and my brother and i went out to play. we felt safe there growing up. the beach was our lifestyle, still is. remember, what goes around comes around so says JT. the area will be great again. bohemian can be fun if you have an open mind. just take care, it's not so open that things fall out.
  • i was here in december, such a great community!
