  • by main entrance they mean main natural enterance. everyone takes the elevator in the visitors center.
  • Not everyone takes the elevator. Most folks enter the caverns via the natural entrance. After a 1.5 mile hike down into the depths of the cave, then you can take the elevator back up to the visitor center, or hike back up.
  • My trip to the cave started by walking in the natural entrance and then we rode the elevator out.
