interesting place, historic ruins
Just visible beneath the shadow of the trees here is the remaining foundation of the wartime Kingston depot of the Western & Atlantic RR. Kingston formed the junction point between the Western & Atlantic and the Rome RR, which led westwards from here to its namesake city. It was here that James J. Andrews had several verbal confrontations with locals while laying over with the locomotive General during the Great Locomotive Chase (Andrews Raid) April 12, 1862. The General itself, was parked on a sidetrack just up the line awaiting southbound traffic.
