Library and museum of fine and rare art. Housed in the New York mansion built by Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919), one of America’s most successful coke and steel industrialists, are masterpieces of Western painting, sculpture, and decorative art, displayed in a serene and intimate setting. The mansion was designed by Carrère & Hastings with an interior by White, Allom & Co. and decoration by Elsie de Wolfe. Lighting was executed by E.F. Caldwell. Some of the furniture was from Duveen.

The Frick Art Reference Library was founded in 1920 by Helen Clay Frick (1888-1984) as a memorial to her father.

  • This is also the address of the Avengers Mansion, from the Marvel Comics universe. The address was chosen due to the central location, and because the building was an inspiring and imposing monument - great for Marvel's finest!
