The Globe and Mail is called "Canada's Newspaper". It has been in circulation since 1844. The building at 444 Front Street West was constructed in 1963 for the Toronto Telegram and was acquired by the Globe and Mail in 1971 following the demise of the Telegram. The front entrance of the building was a lovely art deco artifice that originated in one of their earlier, more central buildings.
Following the relocation of the newspaper's offices to King Street East, the former headquarters building was demolished to may way for The Well redevelopment.
