Site of the annual Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), which is open over the last two weeks of August and closes right before Labour Day. Known as "The Ex," The Canadian National Exhibition was founded in 1879 on a community need to encourage the development of agriculture, manufacturing, industry, commerce and the arts. Over the past 128 years the CNE has grown to be the largest annual fair in Canada and the fifth largest in North America, with an average attendance of 1.3 million visitors annually.
