Once one of the grandest plantations on River Road. Ashland was built by Duncan Kenner, who later became the Confederate Minister to France, in 1841-1842. In 1889, John Reuss purchased Ashland and renamed the plantation Belle Helene, after his granddaughter, Helene. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
