Marketed as a substance treatment center, it is best known as a behavior modification facility, which has been in operation since 1997. January 2008 they were forced to focus on a new target group because the most vital component in the program - a tour of the local jail where inmates were allowed to undress and scare the children was stopped by the newly elected sheriff as a part of a new politic. Orange jumpsuits are no longer a part of the new concept, which should be solely based on treatment of substance abuse.

  • I remember this story from our local newspaper here in Conroe. The worst part is that this deputy which were charged for doing what deputies have done for years under the previous sheriff, was also the primary policeman in a case where a young man with a past from another similar facility in Mexico ended up on death row. I hope that they at least give him life without parole so they can get time to investigate if he was guilty.
