Normansville hamlet

USA / New York / Delmar /
place with historical importance, hamlet, region

Normanskill is a hamlet that is part of the Town of Bethlehem. Normanskill was the first settlement in what is today the Town of Bethlehem and is named for the creek that runs alongside it. While historic, it is today relatively isolated from the rest of the town, and is only accessible from a small yellow-brick road off Delaware Avenue. The small bridge over the Normanskill (the one just north of the much larger Delaware Ave. bridge) has been closed to all vehicular traffic, although it can be walked over, leading to a similar community on the Albany, NY side of the creek.

Comments

  • This is wicked small place and most people call it trol ville its a shady place you dont want to run into anyone down there.
  • One of the creepier places in the capital region. Accessible by the "yellow brick road." Many don't know it exists. Times Union paper did a story on the town and one of its former residents a few years ago.
  • The "yellow brick road" has been paved as of 2007.
