Located by Thomas Rockhill in 1887 and later traded by him to adjoining mine owners. The mine was later purchased by Charles Lane in 1897. It is also the mine where Chinese miners were allegedly trapped in the 1870s and their bodies not retrieved. Stephen King used this tale as inspiration for "Desparation".
