There are 11 gates into Kruger, allowing visitors some flexibility in their itineraries. You should plan to arrive at the gates with enough time to reach your overnight camp, as arriving after the camp gates close will incur a stiff penalty.

The "Malelane Gate" provides entrance to the western region of the southern area of the Kruger National Park. Situated near Berg-en-Dal Camp it is 428km from Johannesburg, Gauteng. Follow the N4 toll road east from Gauteng through Witbank, Belfast and Nelspruit towards Komatipoort. Travel ±6km past Malelane town and at the signs turn off left towards the Malelane Gate.

(See "Crocodile Bridge Gate" for access to the eastern region of the southern area of the park.)

A popular option for day visitors.
