This gate/fence extends across this portion of the island to keep the wild donkeys off the airfield. When the coconut plantation shut down, the chickens and donkeys were left and became wild. Now they are protected under British law.

Comments

  • On which side donkeys are there.
  • The donkeys are on the south side of the gate. Back in the 70's or 80's they gathered everyone up and stretched across the island (not very wide :P) and herded the donkeys to the south to fence them off. The chickens still roam free throughout the island.
