Situated in the 60ft-100ft depths afforded by the Northern portion of Diego Garcia's lagoon, the Diego Garcia Anchorage serves as the base of operations for the US Military Sealift Command's Maritime Prepositioning Ship Squadron Two (MPSRON TWO). MPSRON TWO comprises several US-government owned liquid and dry cargo vessels that are stationed at Diego Garcia on a semi-permanent basis fully loaded with prepositioned cargo for various U.S. military services.
