Q: Why does this lake have such a peculiar shape?
A: The lake is gradually silting up and the area actually covered by water depends on the season. And there are lots of water lilies and other growth obscuring the surface as seen from above.
The reason it looks rectangular is that this is the area that is being kept clear for the rowing course, which was used for the Canada Games in 1973.
