Originally built as J.C. Ferguson Junior High School in 1962. The school was closed in 1987 and was converted to a school for at-risk students (Venture Special Programs Center.) Enrollment at nearby elementary schools began to increase in the late 1990s, so the school was reopened as an elementary school in 2001. By that time a new junior high school had been built and named after J.C. Ferguson, so the building was named in honor of Veda Knox (the original Veda Knox Elementary School in Arlington is now the Kooken Educational Center.)
