Founded in the 1940's by the Zoulis family, Tom's Restaurant has been a mainstay of Morningside Heights. Its exterior was featured as the recurring Tom's Diner in the series "Seinfeld". It was also the subject of the Suzanne Vega song "Tom's Diner" as it is a block from the cathedral mentioned in the song.

  • The Seinfeld characters should have been in excellent physical shape during the show's run, as they supposedly all lived somewhere in the West 70's, and were always meeting at Tom's!
  • Ate lunch at "the coffee shop" - didn't have the Big Salad, though, just a grilled cheese...
  • "Monk's" on Seinfeld. Northeast corner of Broadway and 112th. Kenny Kramer's Seinfeld reality tour stops here.
  • With the demise of the College Inn (thanks Columbia Trustees for not renewing their lease), Tom's is now the last greasy spoon in the area. Not a fan myslef, but they have decent fries. Another known fact: Suzanne Vega's song "Tom's Diner" was based on Tom's Restaurant (Ms. Vega was a student at Barnard).
  • Love Seinfeld. One of the greatest shows on tv.
  • Seinfeld Rocks
  • Monks Cafe aka the coffee shop on Seinfeld the best show on television. Only the exterior was used on the show, the inside was shot in L.A. I want to eat here one day.
