house, place with historical importance, NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, 17th century construction

Pieter Bronck House, Dutch homestead in Coxsackie in Greene County, NY, single room stone house c.1663, stone addition c.1685, brick house c.1738. It is the oldest structure in upstate New York, fifth oldest in New York State.

Pieter Bronck, of the family for whom the Bronx was named, bought the property from the Katskill Indians in 1662. The 1738 larger brick house that was connected by a doorway was built by his grandson, Dutch-style with Federal period details. The house is reputed to be the location where the Coxsackie Declaration of Independence was signed, more than a year before the Continental Congress signing in 1776. The house remained in the family until 1938. It is now owned and operated as a museum by the Greene County Historical Society.
