place with historical importance, aqueduct, interesting place
The construction of this 624 ft long aqueduct with 14 arch supports for a tow path began in 1839 and was completed in 1841 but wasn't put into service until 1845. The aqueduct along with the canal it served was abandoned upon the completion of the New York Barge Canal and has fallen into disrepair ever since.
