The Ralston family owned a farm on this parcel dating back to the mid 1800's. The farm encompassed a much larger area prior to the 1950's. The last 110 acre tract was sold in the late 1980's after John and Jane Ralston passed away. The farm included cattle, pigs, corn, hay and christmas tree production. A large barn on the property dating back over 100 years was destroyed by arson in 1983. The remaining farm buildings were removed after the property was sold.

John and Jane Ralston were very active in the local church and community. John and a group of other local leaders and businessmen were instrumental in constructing the Elderton/Plumcreek Community Park and the first borough sewer system.

The former farm property now includes the Elderton Borough sewer treatment plant, the local EMS station, a drilling business, a nursing home, and several new residences.
