Erstwhile pond which used to drain out dirty water from Padmathirtha Kulam (Tank). There used to be an eloborate system for infusing fresh water into Padmathirtha Tank and removing the dirty water. Patra Kulam was the major feature of this system where the dirty water was collected and drained out. This tank was lost to urbanisation some where around 1980s (?). A makeshift Chattambi Swamy auditorium (Theerthapada Mandapam) came up after that. Sometime later Soma Yaga was conducted at this site under the leadership of Prof Visnunarayanan Namboodri of University College.
