The USS Bushnell was the 3rd member of the Fulton Class of Submarine Tenders and served with distinction with the US Pacific Fleet during WWII and the US Atlantic Fleet from 1952 through her 1980 decommissioning.
Placed into the James River Reserve Fleet, the Bushnell was eventually selected for use as a target ship and was sunk at this location during fleet exercises by Submarine-launched torpedoes on June 1, 1983.
