Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay

Established on July 1st, 1978, Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay was built on the site of a former US Army Ammunition Supply Depot and covers an area of over 16,000 acres. Designed from the ground-up to support Nuclear-powered Ballistic Missile Submarines, the base is now the homeport for the US Navy's Atlantic Fleet Ballisitic Missile Submarine Force.

Home to the commands for Submarine Group 10, Submarine Squadron 16, Submarine Squadron 20 and the Naval Submarine Support Center, the base is also the site of Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic and the US East Coast's sole Trident Refit Facility. In order to maintain the skills of Ballistic Missile Submarine Sailors, Kings Bay is also home to the Trident Training Facility which offers 520,000 square feet of classroom and office space
for training.
