Site Of The Former Village Of Panmunjom

Korea (North) / Hwanghaebukto / Kaesong /

During the Korean War, peace talks were held across the road from the village of Panmunjom, which was located on the south side of the Kaesong-Seoul road. The talks themselves were located in buildings on the north side of the road, and after the signing of the truce, the area became part of North Korea, as it lies to the north of the Military Demarcation Line (technically to the west), but within the Demilitarized Zone, being within 2 kilometers of the MDL.

All traces of the actual village have been removed, and the temporary armistice building is now the DPRK "Peace Museum", a permanent building.

The link provides the only picture I have ever seen of the actual village of Panmunjom. It is an aerial view, looking east, towards what is now the Joint Security Area (JSA) and the curve in the road is heading to the now aptly named "Bridge Of No Return".
