Customer Service After the Sale has always been our goal since the inception of our business in 1918. In that year, Albert Lockeman borrowed $300 from his mother and persuaded a paint distributor to stock his shelves. He was a hard worker and an excellent mechanic. He also was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, canoeing and camping which led to his interest in outboard motors and boats. Albert Lockeman was only interested in selling top quality products and, consequently, he began selling Johnson Outboard Motors in 1925 making us the oldest Johnson Outboard Motor dealer in the state of Michigan.

On July 6, 2001, a new chapter in the history of Lockeman’s Hardware and Boats began as Dave and Dorothy Zammitt purchased the business from Brad Lockeman who solely owned the store after the passing of his brother in April 1996.

In April of 2002, Dave hired his son Douglas as a service tech adding to Ben who has been here since December of 1963, and Eric since April of 1999.
