The Federal Ministry of Finance (German: Bundesministerium der Finanzen, BMF) is part of the German federal government and is responsible for managing the federal budget. The finance minister is the only minister who can veto a decision of the government if it would lead to additional expenditure. The current minister of finance is Peer Steinbrück.

The Building was ordered by Hermann Goering as the headquarters of the Air Ministry (German: Reichsluftfahrtministerium), abbreviated RLM, it is one of the only surviving Nazi buildings in Berlin. During the East German era, it housed the Council of Ministers of the German Democratic Republic.
