  • Dhak is a watch fort but trekkers rarely go there for visiting the fort. The place of attraction is the Bahiri caves dug is steep basalt rock. The approach to this cave is very tough. There are rock cut stairs and if you fall down then its few hundred feet drop. No chances of servival. There are several approach route to this place. Among them few are famous. First comes from Karjat side used by people coming from mumbai mostly. Second is from Lonavala via Rajmachi and third is From Kamshet via Jambhivali. Usually kundeshwar temple is a base camp for this trek where water is available in all seasons and temple is present to sleep in. Note of caution: Do not visit this place unless you are accompanied by expert trekker/mountaineer or you are a experienced trekker yourself. • Many dignities of Maharashtra had visited this marvelous Cave one of them are Mr.Gopal Nilkanth Dandekar. It is also experienced from Shri. Dandekar that Lord Chhatrapati Shiviji Maharaj also visited to this religious place and offer one Golden Plate to the God. The Dhak Cave is having Two Water Tanks. There are number of utensils are also found inside the Tank which is offere to god by Pilgrims. For Climbing on the last patch of Dhak before reaching inside the Cave on the steep rock there is one branch of tree whichis tied with a small rope size branch of flexible tree. Recently, there was a phenomenon occured at DHAK Cave. A God Bahiri was seen by one villager in his dream said I am covered with something please remove it. Then the same village told all these repeated incide to his friends and villagers. The went into caves, they cramed, sang bhazzan, songs over day and night in three days. Finally, person who saw the god in dream went closer to BAHIRI Rock took one needle and touched to back side of rock to remove oil and Shendur which was stuck on rock. Immediately, with a big noice cover removed and a beautiful carved GOD Bhiri comes out. Similary they did to other two rocks also. The they found Lord Ganesh and Devi Bhavani carved on the rock. Thus Bahiri is holy and highly religious place, in where the Ladies, Females are not permissible. Hence, I as a one of the Nature Lover of Syhadri appeal to all not to take females with them in the Cave. We are a memebr of Shiv Shambho Yuva Hikers,Karjat maintaing the Cave.
  • Dear friend of Shiv Shambho Yuva Hikers,Karjat maintaing the Cave. In which world you are living? According to you godess Bhavani is carved on the walls of cave. No where it's written in hindu religious books that Females sholud be banned from visiting such places. Idiots like you will never appriciate the courage those girl trekkers have gathered to climb up to the cave. You have filthy mentality of male dominance. That's why my Maratha lobby is still backward. Change for better my dear friend and just come out of fear from the female dominance. Have a happy and safe trekking.
  • I support Shubhankar's thoughts
  • I support shubhankars thought too.. I was not allowed in the temple when I took so much of efforts to climb.. It was highly disappointing
  • I too approve of his thoughts, even after reaching the top, a local interfered and created a scene and had to come down. It was a stupid thing to do.
