First known was the Backwater Bridge erected here in 1659.
Westham Bridge was opened 13th July 1921, it forms a tidal barrier to Radipole Lake, which is now freshwater. Has a parallel footbridge built in 1973, and in 1987, when the Swannery Bridge was built, was Westham Bridge pedestrianized. Used as a car park and for Farmer's markets.
