canyon / gorge, mountain pass
Pine Canyon is a very steep, 9 mile long road that connects Waterville and Orondo on highway 97. Waterville has a rough elevation of 2,900 feet above sea level, while Orondo is at about 600, which means you drop 2,300 ft in a very short distance. The untrained novice will have problems equalizing the pressure in their ears, making it an uncomfortable ride for some.
