This landtongue of old hard clay resisted the sea for many centuries. On the ulmost end of the Punt are two wierden, mounds, where once lived people. They are visible from the dyke. As this kwelder, piece of land outside the dyke, is relatively high situated, the seawater does not reach up to here so often, so the vegetation has the characteristics of a sweet water area. Important breed and feed area for birds.
