Second World War 1939-1945, concentration camp, interesting place

During WW2 the area was a German anti-aircraft artillery battery (Dollart Süd) for the protection of Emden. There were a number of barracks and several bunkers containing 105mm artillery. In April 1945 the area was liberated by the Polish Army. After the war, 1945-1950, the army camp was used as a prison camp for Dutch Nazi-collaborators. The camp climate was harsh and bitter. Afterwards the camp was destined for former Dutch colonial army troopers and their families, from the Dutch East Indies, so called Ambonese.
