Thunder Bay has one of the largest concentrations of Grain Elevators in the world. The Port of Thunder Bay has nine grain terminals with a total storage capacity of 1.4 million tonnes. These terminals are capable of handling the entire range of western Canadian agricultural production.

This concentration of grain elevators is owned by Viterra Inc. Formerly, they were Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, United Grain Growers M Elevator, and Agricore United Terminal S (which before that used to be Alberta Wheat Pool).
