Once the primary means of transportation of personnel and freight between the upper and lower camps of Sparrevohn Air Force Station, particularly in Winter when roads were often impassible, the tram system and support towers at Sparrevohn were removed by 2005 as part of site remediations carried out by the 611th Civil Engineering Squadron under "Operation Clean Sweep".
