This log house is believed to have been built in 1814, based on its style of construction and core samples taken from the logs. However, early tax records don't record any permanent structure on this site until the 1870's.
It's believed that Samuel R. Heathcock disassembled a log house from a site 7 miles away in Clark County and reassembled it here in the 1870s. The structure has been modified many times over the years and it's currently undergoing restoration work.
