An area at the most easterly point of Kent. The main settlements are towns which have seaside resort attractions, beaches and a significant gallery of the Tate Modern: Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs and all are served by electrified railways via Canterbury and Ashford (International for express services) or the Medway Towns to central London. Encompassed by one local authority, Thanet District Council, the area has the airport for, narrowly, most of Kent hence named Kent International Airport and has numerous golf courses.
