Asfordby is a village in Leicestershire with a Population of nearly 2700. It lies in the Wreake Valley, three miles west of Melton Mowbray. Older buildings around 13th Century church. Housing was built on Asfordby Hill for workers at the Ironworks of Holwell Valley in 19th century. The iron works was demolished in 1961, to be followed by a colliery which was also demolished in 1999 due to geographical difficulty.
