In common with its westerly neighbor, the Westmoreland Bridge, the Hampton bridge not only crosses the Trinity and connects West Dallas with the I-35 industrial corridor, it functions as a dividing line along one of the cities longest roadways, being the naming transition point between Inwood Road, north of I-35, and Hampton Road, south of I-35. All together Inwood/Hampton Road runs from Glenn Heights, south of DeSoto, through Oak Cliff and West Dallas, across the bridge and the north past Love Field through North Dallas to Addison.
**This bridge is currently being reconstructed. It was previously 2 lanes each way and will be expanded to 3 lanes each way. Currently, it is only 1 lane each way. Construction is schedule to be finished by the end of 2008.
