Named for Senator Stephen A. Douglas, debater of Abraham Lincoln. The design was started by William Le Baron Jenney, and after a hiatus during which Ogden Avenue was developed as a major artery, finished by Jens Jensen. Numerous facilities for recreation are available within the park.
