One of three AT&T-operated public coast radio stations that offered High Seas Service (high frequency radio-telephone service) to ships in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Gulf of Mexico. Operations began in the '30s and ended 16 October 1999. The site here at Pt. Reyes was the site of the receiver equipment and antennas. The transmitter side of KMI was located at Dixon, CA.
