The largest school in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Clayton Valley High School has been very important part to the residents of Eastern Concord and the City of Clayton. Clayton Valley's roots stem back to the 1950's, when this site was chosen as a temporary school while nearby Concord High School was being built. This, coupled with the small land parcel, has made Clayton Valley extremely overcrowded. Student parking continues to be a continuous problem, which is caused by the affluency of the area and the distance many students live from the school itself. In 2004, the football and soccer stadium received artificial turf in replacement of the worn out grass field. In addition, Clayton Valley is home to the radio station KVHS (fm 90.5), playing rock and alternative music.
