Budget accomodation.

The building's history goes back to 1963 when it opened as the Royal Stuart Hotel - the city's first hotel of the modern era, and in its day very upmarket and luxurious.

In the 1980s, the building was bought by Strathclyde University, given overcladding (which is why it looks more modern than it actually is), and was converted into a student hall of residence called Clyde Hall.

The university sold it in the late 1990s and it is now a Youth Hostel.
