Beek is a small town in Limburg province. There is another small town, Beek (Beek-Ubbergen) found in Gelderland.
The town of approximately 9,000 inhabitants is located 15 kilometers north of Maastricht and 20 kilometers east of the Belgian town of Genk.
In 2005, an archaeological site was found between Beek and Neerbeek, consisting of the remainings of a settlement from 5,000 BC. This makes Beek the eldest village in the Netherlands.
