Small garden within the Reichstag which represents the people of Germany. The words "Der Bevolkerung" (the population) represent the modern Germany made up of all its people as opposed to the original inscription on the front of the Reichstag, "Dem Deutschen Volke" (the German people) which is now considered limiting in the global context.
At the official opening of the Reichstag, all representatives brought a sack of soil from their electorate to be used in the garden and symbolise the coming together of all Germans.
