Kim Il Sung Square (Pyongyang)

Kim Il Sung Square sits on the west bank of the Taedong River. The building at the left in direct alingment (across the river) to the Tower of the Juche Idea is the headquarters of the Korean Workers Party. There is also a reviewing stand and dais. There are banner icons of DPRK President Kim Il Sung and Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin, as well as seasonal slogan banners. Kim il Sung Square is the setting for numerous military parades, reviews and demonstrations which include torchlight marches by student and labor groups. Aside from the DMZ, Kim Il Sung Square is one of the famous locations in the DPRK, and the most commonly seen North Korean stock image in the media.
