Galenbecker Lake

The Galenbecker Lake in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is located in the district Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Its northern and eastern shores bordering the district of Uecker-Randow. It is divided by a peninsula, the Devil's Bridge, into two roughly equal pools. These are the upper lake to the northwest and the submarine in the southeast. The lake is located north of the homonymous municipality Galen Beck and south of the Great Meadow Friedlander. It has an approximate length of 4.2 kilometers and a width of 2 kilometers, with an average depth of only 75 cm. The lake and its banks date since 1939 is due to its exceptionally high biodiversity one of the oldest nature reserves of the new countries.
