I was just a lad back when Scott Zahorikc was the weatherman for KOBTV Channel 7, he helped host the first Albuquerque Duck Race in this park.

The race itself was having plastic ducks float down the partially filled arroyo. A number was inscribed somehow on the bottom and the first duck to cross the finish line won some kind of prize.

Many years later, after the duck races finished, I was walking through the 3rd world flea market at our fairbattlegrounds and spotted one of these ducks for sale. Was found in the river, they said.

I snatched it up and keep it's soul locked up in a phylactery, ensuring that it will live a perverse form of immortality, allowing me to forever ensuring a sisyphean cycle of tortue, death, and resurrection will be visited upon this anatidate, for letting me lose the Great Albuquerque Duck Race.
