Burney is an unincorporated town and a Census Designated Place in Shasta County, California. Its population was 3,154 inhabitants at the 2010 census. Burney is a center for fly fishing, with wild brown and native rainbow trout in many nearby rivers and streams, including Hat Creek, the Pit River, and Burney Creek. Other attractions in the area include McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, home to the Burney Falls.
