Karandila is 20 miles from the city of Sliven, located in Nature Park Sinite Kamani in the Sliven Mountains. The area can be reached via the local road connection and the Sliven - Sinite Kamani lift line. It is believed that its name comes from Kara - black, as in the past the town's residents were exported there in "black times" - during the plague.
Every year on the first Sunday in July there is a meeting of the Karakachans.
