City of London

United Kingdom / England / London /
city, place with historical importance, draw only border, third-level administrative division, historic city center, city district

This is the actual city of London, often known as "The City" or "The Square Mile". To the west, the part normally assumed to be the centre of London is actually a separate city called Westminster; both have city status. The City of London is older, being the site of first a Roman town called Londinium, then a walled medieval city. Today, it is a major centre of business and finance.

  • I love london
  • With an area of one square mile (2.6 square kilometres) and a population of only 7,800 this is probably one of the smallest cities in the World, but is also often described as the richest square mile as well.
  • Not even close I'm afraid Wikimapper. The Vatican City is six times smaller at just 0.44km2 and even within the UK itself St.David's in Pembrokeshire has six times few people with just about a resident population of 1800 ! Whether the description of the wealthiest square mile in the world still applies is far more subjective and depends on how you judge it, but doubtless the are some in Monte Carlo or Brunei City who might differ.
