Now (July 2007) being cruelly demolished for a larger building. This was one of the few buildings to survive the bombing of the Second World War. Now the beautiful carved stone arches of its inner court are being smashed.

    All gone now.

This building, now demolished, did not survive the WWII bombings. It was built in the 1950's, a contemporary of other similarly styled developments such as Barrington House on Gresham Street.

Out of curiosity, will it be a change for the better or the worse? I think for the worse. Although i admire modern architecture, i also enjoy classical and baroque architecture, etc, and it is sad to see a post modernist horror replace a wonderful building.
